Brian Alfred Rusk – September 15, 2014

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Brian was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Pampa, Texas, to Doris and Paul Rusk.  The family relocated to Amarillo in 1936.
He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1946, and then served as a radar technician in the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life, Joan McCormick, on August 5, 1950, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Brian attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and was graduated with an economics degree from West Texas State University. He enjoyed a 35-year career with Cowan Claims Service.
He was an active and involved member of St. Andrews for 64 years, and was well-known as a dedicated participant in his community, volunteering with Meals On Wheels, Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and BSA Hospice.
Brian enjoyed shooting pool, and loved to travel, camp, dance and play bridge with his wife, Jo. Throughout his life, he was the most kind and loving friend, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather one could ever hope for.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Brent, a sister Joyce and a daughter Rebecca Sue.
He is survived by his wife Jo, of 64 years; two daughters, Mary Louise Rusk and husband Bruce Baca of Amarillo, Karen Rusk and husband Brook Meggs of Boston; a granddaughter, Tana May and husband Billy of Amarillo; and two great-grandsons, Brian & Caleb.
The family would like to extend its appreciation to V.A. Medical Center & BSA Hospice for the excellent care Brian received.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association.
