Laquita Joy Crawford, 84, of Bushland, died Saturday, August 12, 2017

Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M, Wednesday, August 16, 2017, in Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado with Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements are by the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2008 Paramount Blvd.

Laquita was born March 12, 1933, in Throckmorton to Luther and Mabel Cribbs.  She graduated from Wildorado High School in 1950.  Following graduation from Draughons Business School, she began her working career as a secretary.  But, her most important job was being a loving wife, mom and grandmother.  Laquita was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making all kinds of things for her children and grandchildren.

On June 28, 1951, she married Marshall Paul Crawford.  They were married 65 years prior to his death on Dec. 11, 2016.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Monty Crawford; a daughter Marsha Campbell; a brother Martin Cribbs; and a sister Billie Pryor.

She is survived by two daughters, Terri Robinson and husband Kevin and Polly Cheyne and husband Dennis; six grandchildren, Bryan Sparks and wife Carrah, Bart Cheyne and wife Jennifer, Britten Buster and husband Chris, Keli Gillis and husband Lyle, Nicole McWatters and husband Andrew, and Zack Crawford; and 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Derl Cribbs and wife Mary of Amarillo, Don Cribbs and wife Lillian of Wildorado, and Ronnie Cribbs and wife Carol of Rhome, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Girken and husband Gene of Lees Summit, MO, Olivia Washburn of Calvert, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M – 7:00 P.M, Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at the funeral home.

Jerry Wayne Ball – January 15, 2017

Ball Obit PicJerry Wayne Ball, 64, of Bushland, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Allan Stanglin officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jerry was born Feb. 11, 1952, in Colorado Springs, Colo. to F.W. and Lois Ball.  Following graduation from Dumas High School in 1970, he went on to earn an associate’s degree.

Jerry was an auto mechanic, loved to race cars and built his own Sprint car.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Ball, of Amarillo; three sisters, Karen Hubbard and husband Doug and Sharen Baker, both of Amarillo and Beverly Johnson and husband Lanny, of Mansfield, Ark.; two sons, Jeremy Ball and Jamie Ball; many nieces and nephews; and five grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Street Medical Plz, Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106.

Marshall Paul “Speck” Crawford – December 11, 2016

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, in Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado with Bob Miller officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Speck served in World War II during the occupation of Japan.  He retired from SW Portland Cement Plant.  He was a devoted father and husband and lifelong cowboy.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Campbell; a son, Monty Crawford; and a sister, Mary Lou Lantz.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Laquita Crawford; two daughters, Terri Robinson and husband Kevin and Polly Cheyne and husband Dennis; six grandchildren, Bryan Sparks and wife Carrah, Bart Cheyne and wife Jennifer, Britten Buster and husband Chris, Keli Gillis and husband Lyle, Nicole McWatters and husband Andrew, and Zach Crawford; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at the funeral home.
