Anita Vasquez, 60, of Dumas, died Monday, April 11, 2017.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Garcia officiating.  Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Anita was born on April 12, 1956 in El Paso, Texas to Tomas & Manuela Vasquez.  She was a homemaker, lecturer, and minister at her church.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Tomas Vasquez and Cruz Rodriguez.

She is survived by three daughters, Veronica Lara and husband Jose of El Paso, Sandra Vasquez and husband Alberto of Juarez, Mexico, Cynthia Lozano and husband Margarito of Dumas; two sons, Ricardo Garcia and Antonio Garcia, both of Dumas; two sisters, Isela Cedillo of Littlefield and Maria De Jesus Giordano of Midland; a brother Andres Vasquez of Sunland Park, N.M.; and her twenty-one grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven nephews; and one niece.

Wesley “Wes” Garcia – April 1, 2017

Wesley “Wes” Garcia, 35, of Dumas, died Saturday, April 1, 2017.

A rosary service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Cesar Gomez as celebrant.  Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Wes was born in Dumas on March 29, 1982 to Lupe & Janie Garcia.  He graduated from Dumas High School and attended Amarillo College.  While in college, he coached coed softball.  He loved all sports and ninja turtles.  He was a collector of movies and a lover of poker.  He had worked the last ten years at Walmart as a greeter and in loss prevention.

Wesley was one of a kind and was loved by all and touched everyone’s heart as he was a true angel in human form.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lupe Garcia and a sister, Melissa Flores.

He is survived by his mother, Janie Garcia; a brother, Wally Garcia and wife Amanda; a sister, Mandi Chairez and husband Harvey, all of Dumas; a grandfather, Natividad Vasquez of Graham; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Arthur Ivan “Rusty” Davidson DVM – March 26, 2017

Davidson, Arthur Obit PicArthur Ivan “Rusty” Davidson DVM, 80, of Dumas, died Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Dumas with Rev. John Sanders, pastor, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Rusty was born on September 4, 1936 in Middlewell, Texas to Robert and Daisy Davidson. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1954 and earned his doctor of veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University.  He practiced veterinary medicine for over 46 years.  He was a member of the Dumas Rotary Club, the Dumas Toastmasters, and the First United Methodist Church.  He had served on the Brazos River Authority from 1976 to 1983 and on the Palo Duro River Authority from 1986 to 2016.  He was past chairman of the Moore County Historical Commission.

He married Lena Arnold on September 25, 1960 in Orrick, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Davidson of Dumas; a son, Brent Davidson and wife, Laura of Eagle River, Alaska; a daughter, Brenda Carol of San Luis Obispo, Ca.; four brothers, Cecil Davidson, Joseph Davidson, James Alfred Davidson, Jack Davidson; and two sisters, Loraine Parry and Ima Jean Taylor.

Faye Cargill – March 19, 2017

Faye Cargill, 91, of Dumas died Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Borger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.MCargil Hair and Online Obit Pic. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Church of the Nazarene with Steve Swanson officiating.  Burial will be at Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Faye was born on May 31, 1925 in Cement, Oklahoma to George and Gertrude Bunch.  She lived in Channing for over fifty years and was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Maggie Ramos and Debbie Ringo, both of Dumas; a son, Joey Cargill of Panhandle; a sister, Frances Griggs of Odessa; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Michael Thomas – March 21, 2017

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at First Christian Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor, officiating.  Private burial will be held at Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Michael was born on August 14, 1951 to J.L. and Lillian Thomas.  He grew up in Durant, Oklahoma.  He earned his associates degree from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service.  He moved to Dumas in the last 1970’s and began his career of helping families.  He retired a few years ago after serving Moore County as a funeral director for over 30 years.  He had enjoyed owning & operating Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery the last several years.

Michael always enjoyed helping others and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Julian Thomas.

He married Charon Fry on September 8, 2007 in Dumas.

He is survived by his wife Charon Thomas of Dumas; his three faithful babies, Oreo, Keylea Kae, Lexi; and a host of friends and family.

Marie was born on October 7, 1936 in Milliken, Colorado to Roger and Gladys Batts. She taught school for over 30 years for the Dumas School District. She then owned and operated Mee Maw Ree’s children’s clothing store for several years. She loved to play bridge, fish, and travel with her husband. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a member of First Street Church of Christ.

Marie married Gene Davis on Feb. 26, 1955, in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2017.

She was also preceded in death by a son, James Davis in 1976 and a sister, Cora Shaw.

Survivors include a son, David Davis, of Rochester; a daughter, Lisa Owens and husband Larry, of Amarillo; a brother, James Batts of Pueblo, Co; two sisters, Glenda Day of Ok. City, Ok. and Deloris “Lorse” Stout of Elmore City, Ok.; five grandchildren, Diane Edmondson, Stephen Aplin, Megan Jeter, Jacob Davis and Dalton Davis; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob Porter, Cheyenne Aplin, Logan Edmondson, Damien Jennings, Cristian Jeter and Mercedes Aplin.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017, in First Street Church with Chauncey Spencer officiating.  Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.  Military rites are provided by American Legion Post 224.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Gene was born May 16, 1931, in Pottsboro to Jim and Annie Davis.  He graduated from Dalhart High School and served in the Marines during the Korean War.

Gene was employed with the Dumas Police Department for more than 34 years and retired as the chief of police.  He was a private pilot and loved to fly and go cross-country on his motorcycle.  He was a member of First Street Church of Christ.

Gene married Marie Batts on Feb. 26, 1955, in Fort Worth.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Davis in 1976.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marie Davis, of Dumas; a son, David Davis, of Rochester; a daughter, Lisa Owens and husband Larry, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Diane Edmondson, Stephen Aplin, Megan Jeter, Jacob Davis and Dalton Davis; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob Porter, Cheyenne Aplin, Logan Edmondson, Damien Jennings, Cristian Jeter and Mercedes Aplin.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Grace Through Faith Fellowship with David Purl officiating.  Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Michael was born Jan. 10, 1961, in Dumas to Walter Lee and Lena Marie Turner.  He was a lifelong resident of Dumas.  Michael loved his family and work on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Todd Turner; two brothers, Walter Gene Turner and Ronald Dale Turner; and a nephew, Christopher Gene Turner.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Carla Turner, of Dumas; two daughters, Radina Kay Turner and Kristina Marie Turner, both of Dumas; three grandchildren, Lena Danielle Roberton, Maddison Rashae Jones and Gunner Michael Scarborough; two brothers, Gerry Turner of Dumas and Rodney Turner and wife Karen of Dalhart; and a sister, Marilyn Smith and husband David of Amarillo.

Darrell Rowell – February 16, 2017

Darrell was born on August 10, 1930 in Happy to James A. & Gertrude Rowell.  He graduated from Dumas High School in 1949 and later earned his bachelors degree.  He owned and operated Rowell Body Shop for over forty years.  He was a minister with the Church of Christ.  He had also worked as a realtor for Ad Rem for over fifteen years.  He was a past president of both the Dumas Rotary Club and the Dumas Jaycees.  He was a member of the 6th and Meredith Church of Christ.

He married Farris Blackshear on September 26, 1952 in Clayton, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Rowell.

He is survived by his wife, Farris Rowell of Dumas; two daughters, Risa Lusk and husband Chris of Dumas and Kelly Efurd and husband Kevin of San Antonio; a brother, Joe P. Rowell and wife Betty of Vernal, Utah; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Mark, Autumn, Monica, Morgan, Jason, and Zachary; and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

The family will received friends from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the funeral home.

Nema Lee Hudson – February 10, 2017

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox with Jori Buchenau officiating.  Burial will follow at 4:00 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Nema was born on May 26, 1929 in Dalhart to Walter and Annie Ratcliffe.  She graduated from Dalhart H.S. in 1946.  She then earned her bachelors degree in education from Mary Hardin Baylor University.  She taught school in Dalhart for six years and in Dumas for over thirty years retiring in 1989.  She was a member of R.E.A.D. and the First Baptist Church.

Her greatest joy was her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She married Frank E. Hudson on February 7, 1953 in Dalhart.  He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Patty Willis and husband Greg of Dumas; two grandsons, Jeff Willis and wife Lindsey of Eunice, La. And Justin Willis and wife Letty of Dumas; and four great grandchildren, Madison, Cruz, Alison, and Jaycie.
