Dominguez, Mabel Obit PicMabel Lee Dominguez, 56, of Panhandle, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2017.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel in Amarillo.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mabel was born April 7, 1960, in Beeville to Manuel V. Perez and Irene Soliz.  She passed away on January 16, 2017 at BSA hospital in Amarillo, after a lengthy hospital stay with her loving husband at her side.

At the age of 56, Mabel was a very loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dearly loved friend.  She had faith in her Creator and believed in the resurrection of the dead. She knew that when death came, she would only be asleep for a little while but alive in God’s memory.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; her children Adam, Matthew, David, Robert, and McQuade; 7 grandchildren; her mother, Irene; two sisters, Peggy and Mary; and a brother, Manuel.

Lorene Grisham – May 28, 2016

Lorene was born in Comanche Co., Texas on June 28, 1922. She married Frank Grisham on March 9, 1940 in Gorman, Texas.  They lived there until 1953 when he was transferred to Panhandle, as manager with Pioneer Natural Gas Company.

Frank preceded her in death on December 23, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, Weldon Grisham on December 2, 2000.

Lorene was a member of the Panhandle Country Club and Ladies Golf Association. She was a club champion several times, which she was very proud of and also a member of 55+ Club that she attended every Wednesday and had lots of fun playing cards.

Lorene had lots of hobbies, sewing, quilting, and all kinds of handwork.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Held and husband Les of Panhandle, a grandson, Steve Held and wife Kathy of Marquez, Texas; a granddaughter, MeLinda Shemwell and husband Ralph; a great-grandson son, Ryan; great-granddaughter, Hanna Williams and husband Westin, all of Panhandle; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Grisham of Panhandle; a granddaughter, Michele Rollans and husband Brad; a great-granddaughter, Meredith, all of Allen, Texas; a grandson, Scott Grisham of Panhandle; and great-grandson, Kyler of Lubbock, Texas.

She dearly loved all her family, Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandma, Lorene.

Gerald Dean Heare – January 8, 2014

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in First United Methodist Church in Panhandle, with Buddy Payne officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle.

Mr. Heare was born in Pampa on Feb. 2, 1939.  He was the seventh of seven children.  After a short stint in the National Guard, he worked for Vibra-Whirl up until his retirement.  Gerald married Joan Elaine Walker on May 13, 1967.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Panhandle.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Joan, his father, his mother, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his brother, Frank Heare of Miami; two daughters, Linda Burleson and husband Jeff of Bossier City, LA, and Lynitta Heare of Panhandle; two grandchildren, Zach Burleson and Adam Burleson.

Mary Frances Stamps, 85, of Panhandle died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, in Panhandle Church of Christ with Gaylon Stamps and Bennie Cummings officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mary was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Ladonia to Maurice and Ella Gurley. She married Lowell Eugene Stamps on July 10, 1948. She was a member of Panhandle Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gail Park and a sister, Pat Young.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Stamps; three sons, Ronnie Stamps and wife Truby of Anton, Thomas Stamps of Amarillo and Mark Stamps and wife Jean of Fritch; a brother, Charles Gurly of Pampa; 13 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Boxwell Brothers in Panhandle.

The family suggests memorials be to Panhandle Church of Christ, 207 E 4th St, Panhandle, TX 79068.

The family will be at 703 E. 3rd in Panhandle.

Carol Faye Stroope – October 29, 2013

Carol Faye Stroope, 79, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013.

Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Panhandle.  Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, in St. Theresa Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the Groom Catholic Cemetery in Groom.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Carol was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Pampa, to Aloysius and Nell Britten.  She was a lifelong resident of Panhandle.  Carol married James Stroope in November 1952.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Gayle Stroope in 1961 and SeLisa Ann McLean in 2006.

Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Stroope Huff of Amarillo; two sisters, Willie Mae Barnett of Groom and Betty Rae Kotara of White Deer; a brother, Maynard Britten of Edmond, OK; two grandchildren, Jamie Dark of Austin and Marcus McLean of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, James McLean and Annie McLean.

Quadene Wright – March 22, 2013

Quadene Wright, 79, of Amarillo, formerly of Panhandle, died Friday, March 22, 2013.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Renae Haiduk officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

On the morning of March 22, 2013 Quadene soared into the arms of Jesus, where she was reunited with her beloved husband. Quadene was born May 27, 1933, in Swisher County to be the second of three children of Mabel and Leo Billington. She married Charles Wright in 1958, and had two sons and a daughter. Her life was a gift from God and was full of love, tenderness, and compassion towards all who came in contact with her. She was protective of her children and was the queen who ruled their world.

She was a devoted, gentle hearted, and amazing women. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charlie, her parents, her two sisters, and other cherished relatives.

All who knew her will remember her joy and light forever.

Survivors include her children, Wynn and Nancy Wright, Clay and Margaret Wright, Lisa and Kirk Proctor; a niece, Lori Green; and grandchildren,  Kasi, Kelsi, Katherine, Kelley, Avery, and Gage.

Glenn Annis – February 20, 2013

Glenn Annis, 61, of Panhandle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, in First Baptist Church in Panhandle with Josh Light, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle, 208 Main.

Glenn was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Clarksville to Jessie and Ruby Annis.  He had worked as a correctional officer in the criminal justice system.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Fricks; two brothers, David Annis and Allen Wayne Annis; his mother, Ruby Gaines Annis; and his father, Jessie Milton Annis.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Annis of Panhandle; three sons, Jeff Annis and wife Julie of Amarillo, Kevin Annis of Amarillo and Jeremy Annis, of Panhandle; siblings, Doris Vick and Helen Kingston, both of Amarillo, Pauline Edwards and husband Marvin of Paris, James Annis and wife Dana of Abernathy; and two grandchildren, Jessie Annis of Pittsburgh, PA and Jessica Annis of Mineola.

Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the funeral home in Panhandle.

Emma Jean Brinkley – November 30, 2012

Emma Jean Brinkley, 87, of Panhandle died on Friday, November 30, 2012 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Panhandle. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle.

Mrs. Brinkley was born on March 1, 1925 to Homer and Vona Gray. She worked for Admiral Linen Supply and Panhandle ISD, where she retired after 21 years of service at the age of 75.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis Curt Brinkley on February 20, 1988; a son, Jimmy Lee Brinkley on March 19, 1989 and by a granddaughter, Tammy Ranae on November 29, 2012.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Jean Woody and husband Lee of Glide, Oregon; two sons, Rodney Dale Brinkley and wife Patsie of Amarillo and Calvin Lynn Brinkley of Panhandle; a daughter-in-law, Pat Davis Brinkley of Panhandle; a sister, Gladys Crow of Farmington, New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Sally O’Hare of Wellington; two very special nieces, Debbie Grey of Panhandle and Donna Laurence of Pampa; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle.

John Franklin Palmer, Jr.-July 12, 2012

John Franklin Palmer, Jr., 88, of Panhandle died on July 12, 2012.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Memorial Park East Mausoleum with Dennis Humphrey and Wylie Chaney officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mr. Palmer was born on February 20, 1924 in Coffeyville, Kansas to John and Essie Palmer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and had worked at Pantex for thirty-two years retiring as a fireman. He was a member of First Christian Church of Panhandle and was past Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to the men’s prayer breakfast and making any repairs on the church facility. He married Maria Wolf on January 2, 2003 in Panhandle.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lorena Isabel Palmer, a son, Gary Don Palmer, a sister, Edna Lucille Tillman, a brother, James Arnold Palmer and a sister, Opal Lee Sacks.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Palmer of Panhandle; two daughters, Mamie Stimpson and husband Terry of Cape Corral, Florida and Sherrie Hibbs and husband Donnie of Panhandle; his twin brother, Leon Palmer of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Burton of Amarillo; two brothers, Jack E. Wardlow II and Roy F. Wardlow, both of Shamrock, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Carla Arlene Gores Black – June 26, 2012

Carla Arlene Gores Black, 81, of Panhandle, went to heaven on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Panhandle with Pastor Josh Light officiating.  Burial will be immediately following at the White Deer Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle, 208 Main.

Mrs. Black was born on January 1, 1931, at the Gores’ home place in White Deer.  She grew up on a ranch, and was the youngest of ten children.  She developed a lifetime love for music while growing up in a home where her parents and siblings played fiddles, guitars, and pianos.  She learned to play the piano by ear, and would often play songs she had just listened to on the radio.

She married the love of her life, Wayne Black, on May 1, 1951, and they were married 43 years before he preceded her in death.  They raised their family in Skellytown, Eldorado and Panhandle, Texas.  Carla loved God and His Word, adored her sons, and was a gentle, compassionate grandmother.  She trusted God with all facets of her life, and taught her family to do the same.

Survivors include three sons, Randy Black and wife Paula of Panhandle, Chris Black and wife Barbara of Corpus Christi, and Gary Black and wife Debra of Wylie; a sister, Louise West of Pampa; a brother, Pete Gores and wife Senora of Pampa; 11 grandchildren, Chad Black and wife Bobbi of Amarillo, Kelly Black and wife Amber of Canyon, Brea Olson and husband Courtney of Panhandle, Kendra Cucovatz and husband David of Beverly, Massachusetts, Krissy Clark and husband Tanner of Amarillo, Summer Black of Wylie, Tiffany McLaughlin and husband Aaron of Plano,  Matt Black of Lovington, NM, Amanda Jones of Worcester, England, Alyssa Black of Austin, and Daniel Black of Corpus Chirsti; and 12 great-grandchildren (with three more on the way.)
