Friday, June 2nd, 2017

Jeffrey Don (Jeff) Kelley, 50, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.

Jeff was born on December 7, 1966, to Raymond and Donald Ruth Kelley of Amarillo, Texas.  Jeff was preceded in death by his mother.

Jeff is survived by his father, Raymond Kelley; his daughter, Jordyn Kelley Murphy; his son, Jaxon Kelley; his sister, Charmaine Kelley Morehead; and a granddaughter, Hadley Murphy.

Jeff spent his formative years in Amarillo, attended Ridgecrest Elementary, Puckett Elementary, then Bonham Junior High School and ultimately Amarillo High School graduating in 1985.  Jeff was an outstanding athlete.  He played football, basketball, baseball and track and excelled in all of them.  During high school, Jeff was especially talented in football and baseball.  He was one of two players who were chosen for the Varsity football team in high school as a sophomore.  Jeff also served as a team captain during his senior year of football.

Jeff was a very talented student academically and also a student leader serving in student council, various organizations and clubs, national honor society and as Senior Class President in High School.  Jeff received many academic, leadership and athletic awards over his years in Amarillo.

Following high school, Jeff attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a degree in Finance.  He was a very proud member of Kappa Alpha fraternity at Texas Tech.  Jeff also earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio and became a very talented attorney, both as a defense attorney and a prosecutor.  Law was probably the very best career choice for Jeff as he was very clever, smart, stubborn, strong willed and loved to argue and debate……just ask his closest friends and family.

Jeff loved and adored his two children.  He was very proud of them and their accomplishments.  They remain one of his greatest achievements as an adult.  He was also a loving and devoted son and brother.  His family was very important to him.

Jeff was an avid fly-fisherman and golfer. He especially enjoyed these activities with his close friends.  Competitive, as expected, on the golf course but peaceful and relaxed when he was on the river, creek or stream.  Casting his fly and enjoying the comradery of his friends while fishing or around the campfire.  He loved the great outdoors and enjoying God’s creation.

Jeff was an extremely loyal, generous and faithful friend.  He held his friends very close to his heart and loved unconditionally just as he was loved unconditionally.  Jeff was full of passion and energy and lived life at full speed in everything he did.  Jeff also exhibited great resilience in life and never gave up on anything, even at the very end of his life.

Jeff will be very fondly remembered by many, especially his family and his many friends who knew Jeff the best.

Jeff is now at peace and is in the presence of his Lord and Savior.  Romans 8:31-39

Jeff will be remembered, celebrated and honored during a memorial ceremony on June 10, 2017 at 4pm CST in Amarillo at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel at 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Craig Albracht officiating.  Reception to follow at The Venue on Olsen at 3314 Olsen Blvd, Suite B, to celebrate Jeff Kelley.  Friends and family are invited to attend.
