Charles Monroe Steen, 77, of Happy, died Sunday, May 19, 2013.
 
No services will be held.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
 
Charles was born April 27, 1936, in Dalhart, to Winfred and Grace Steen.  He attended Amarillo High School and in 1952, at the age of 16, enlisted in the United States Army.  He proudly served his country and was thankful for the opportunity.  Charles married the love of his life, Helen Louise Barnes, November 6, 1959.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Charles had a very kind spirit and heart of gold and was cherished by his family and friends.  His family is happy he is with the Lord, but will miss him.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruby Steen.
 
Survivors include his wife Helen, of Happy; two sons, Calvin Steen and wife Judy of Hawley and Keith Steen of Canyon; a daughter, Faith Watson and husband Lonny of Canyon;  a granddaughter, Crystal Bradshaw and husband Jeff of Converse; two grandsons, Blake Steen and wife Carrie of Spring Valley, California, and Andy Watson and wife Brittany of Amarillo; two great-grandsons, Bryson Glen Watson and Able Monroe Steen; a brother, Dan Steen and wife Alice of Longview; and a sister, Edith Dickerson of Amarillo.
 
The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Suresh Neelagaru and staff, BSA Hospice staff and very dear friend, Kirk Williams.
 
The family suggests memorials be to Happy Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 216, Happy, Texas 79042.
