Claude Leroy Benedict – March 14, 2013

Claude Leroy Benedict, 88, of Wildorado, died Thursday, March 14, 2013.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2013, in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Schatte and Rev. Brian Hesse officiating.  Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery at Wildorado.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Claude was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Miami, Kansas to Kenneth and Verna Benedict.  Claude married Ellen Louise England on Feb. 10, 1950.  He was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Pony Creek School in Louisburg, Kansas. After graduation Claude faithfully served his country in the Army from 1944-1946.  After they moved to Elkhart, Kansas in 1960, where he was employed by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, and until he retired, Claude was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who spent his life loving and taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Vernie May Benedict; a sister, Dorthy Lewis; a brother, Charles Benedict; and a son, Rex Benedict.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ellen Benedict of Wildorado; two daughters, Cindy Roark and husband Steve of Wildorado and Claudia Benedict of Taos, NM; four grandchildren, Jessica Boudreau, Amber Trayler and husband Jody, Sarah Cumming and husband Chad and Heath Roark; and four great-grandchildren, Eden, Aspen, Brooke and Emma.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran School, 5005 W Interstate 40  Amarillo, TX 79106; or to a favorite charity.
