David Sewell Crawford – May 17, 2017

David Sewell Crawford died on May 17 in Amarillo of complications from a recent diagnosis of tongue cancer.
David and his twin, Dana, were born on October 16, 1955, in Amarillo to Ollie and Joe Crawford. He attended Avondale Elementary, Sam Houston Junior High, and graduated in 1974 from Tascosa High School. As a Tascosa Rebel, he caused his share of trouble and wrestled under the watchful eye of Coach James Kile. He attended University of Texas Arlington and Amarillo College.
He married Sally Daniel on June 15, 1991. Together they enjoyed traveling across the country as well as several trips to Europe and Asia. They travelled to China 3 times, twice to adopt their precious daughters.
Always after a bargain, David bought and sold on Ebay. He acquired one of the largest collections of Coors Pottery in Texas. He purchased real estate for rental properties. He was a Potter County Constable for 10 years. He worked at the airport for TSA for 7 years.
With his outgoing personality and gift of noticing things about people, he had many friends who meant a lot to him and never met a stranger. He loved to fish and was a gifted gardener and enjoyed photography. He was proud of his 2 daughters and enjoyed attending their activities.
David was preceded in death by his father and mother.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Sally Crawford, his daughters, Joely and Camry, and his brother Steve Crawford all of Amarillo; sisters, Karen Steward of Corpus; Paula Henry (Don) of Big Sandy; Valerie Tubbs (Mike) of Lake Texoma; and Dana Jackson (Ray) of Greenville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
The family will receive family and friends from 6-8pm, Friday, May 19, 2017, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Amarillo College Foundation, Suzuki Fund, PO Box 447, Amarillo, TX 79178.

  5. I am sorry to hear of Davids passing. I graduated Tascosa in 1974 with him and attended AC with him. Always had a good sense of humor , nice to everyone and enjoyed his facebook post.

  9. I am saddened to hear about David. Lots of love and prayers for his family. I haven’t seen David since our 20th reunion, and so glad he continued to be so loved by everyone he shared his life with in his special journey.
