Jerry Jene Pickard – July 8, 2017

Jerry was the first-born son of Angelene “Angie” Strecker Pickard and of L. Jeral “Jerry” Pickard on June 6, 1945 in Amarillo, and entered into his heavenly father’s arms July 8, 2017.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jerry graduated from Palo Duro High School and attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University.
He enjoyed football, basketball, listening to music, especially country gospel and water coloring.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, L. Jeral Pickard, grandparents, Ida and Alex Strecker, L.J. and Glowie Pickard and an infant sister, Carol Sue.
He is survived by his mother, Angelene Kirby; three brothers, Steven, Jimmy and Bobby and two special nephews, Zachary and Alex Pickard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to Top of Texas AA, 1301 S. Taylor St., Amarillo, Texas 79101.

  1. So sorry to hear about the loss of Jerry. My brothers Tommy and Jimmy both sent condolences. We were neighbors to you on Oak Drive. Please give your Mom, Steve, Jimmy, Bobby and your entire family our sincere expression of peace and God’s love.

  3. It is not easy to loose a loved one, Jerry, I am sure lived a full life. My condolence to his family and God Bless you all.
    I have such great memories of Jerry and how determined he was to be his best at wrestling. He was fun to be around him and I can be thankful for my very minutes compared to this life, Jerry you will be missed.

  6. I was sorry to read about Jerry Jean. I have a doctor’s appointment the day of the service so I won’t be able to attend but wanted you to know I’ll be thinking of you all. (I stopped by Boxwell Brothers and left a card and copies of the obituary in case you might want them.) I have fond memories of Uncle Jeral, Aunt Angie and all of the cousins getting together at Grannie & Dad’s for holidays. Miss you all! Susie

  7. Thinking of you all, so sorry for your loss. Eric has been reminiscing about the times Jerry Jene and Steve would come out to the farm when you lived next door to Aunt Ida in Russell.
    So glad we got to see you and your family when we were in Amarillo 3 years ago.
