John Solis – December 29, 2017

John Solis, 82, of Amarillo died Friday, December 29, 2017.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Llano Cemetery with military rites provided by Volleys for Veterans.  Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church with Barry Loving officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

John was born on August 9, 1935 in Amarillo, Texas to Isabel and Jesus Solis.  He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1955 and West Texas State University in 1970.  John was a veteran in the United States Army and had worked for Santa Fe Railroad for thirty years.

He married Betty on June 29, 1960.  Together they raised three sons.  John was very proud of his three sons.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Elizalde.

John is survived by his wife, Betty Solis, his sons, David Solis and Rhonda Rossman, Alan Solis and his wife Ivet, Chris Solis and his wife Brenda, a brother, Antonio Solis, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The Solis family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Texas Oncology as well as Linda and Liz and the rest of the staff on the eighth floor at BSA Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Christian Church, 3001 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo, TX 79109.

The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the funeral home.
