Joyce June Nall – July 7, 2017

Joyce June Nall, 84, of Amarillo, called home on Friday, July 7, 2017.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Rowe Cemetery, Hedley, TX.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Joyce was born on May 29, 1933 in Hedley, Texas to Walter and Billie Burdine.  She lived in Hedley, Quail and Memphis TX.  She graduated from Quail High School in 1950.
After graduation, she began her career as an Operator at Southwestern Bell and worked for them for over 37 years.  “I’m a Hello Girl!” was one of her favorite sayings.  She was a Southern Baptist and considered herself the “Matriarch” of the Burdine-Nall-Graham clan.   As Matriarch, she was endowed with certain super powers.  First and fore-most of those powers was “Talking” which was very useful in her career as Operator and Matriarch.  She had more stories than the Smithsonian and could recite them all in chronological order.   She loved her family and especially “her sparkles and her greats” more than anything.   Miss Joyce June was everyone’s Great Aunt JoJo.  She enjoyed late-night phone calls from anyone (and everyone), and we all knew not to call her before 3 PM.
She married Hugh Nall in 1953; he preceded her in death in 1966.
She is survived by her son, Scott Nall and wife Patty of Canyon; a stepdaughter, Sandra Nall of Canyon Lake, TX; her grandchildren, Matthew and Miles Nall of Amarillo; a niece, Tamara Lacy of Amarillo; a nephew, Rob and Ana Graham of Angel Fire, NM; and extended family including Michael and Alison, Caitlin, Emma June, Sean and Abigail Lacy; Tim and Julie and Briana Lacy; Mark and Erin, Tori and Teryn Palacio; Alan and Melissa, Kayden and Kynlee Graham; Justin and Tamra, Ashby and soon-to-be little baby Graham;  Rowena Montgomery; Raylene Talley; Nick, Brett, and Brandi Maynard; and the Burdine family of California and Hedley area of Texas.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Instead of flowers, the family would prefer a donation in her name to a charitable organization of your choice.

  1. She is remembered for all the band practices and other events where she was faithfully present. She will be missed. May God’s presence be ever so near.
