Kody Ryan Hodge, 20, of Amarillo died Monday, December 18, 2017.

Kody was born October 8, 1997, in Amarillo to Kim and Ryan Hodge.  He graduated from Amarillo High School in 2015.  Kody was attending Amarillo College where he was very active in the theater program.

Kody truly had a talent and passion for the performance arts beginning at a very young age.  He was quite entertaining and very funny, with a quick wit and a great sense of humor.  During Kody’s years at Amarillo High, he performed in many shows, including Anne of Green Gables and West Side Story.  In his first year at Amarillo College, Kody had starring roles in Stupid F**king Bird and Silent Sky.  Kody was a natural, demonstrating amazing timing, whether in a comedy or a drama.  His role as Peter Shaw in the production of Silent Sky earned him the honor of being nominated by The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival to participate in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship competition to be held at the Regional Festival in San Angelo this coming February.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, V.J. Mendez.

Survivors include his parents, Kim and Ryan Hodge, of Amarillo; a brother, Joshua Keen Hodge, of Amarillo; his grandparents, Margaret and Jerry Hodge, of Amarillo, Melanie and Cloy  Richards, of West Lake Tawakoni, Corinne Mendez, of San Antonio and Cecille and James Martin, of Abilene; his great-grandmother, Dolores Hodge; his aunts and uncles, Donna and Heath Hodge, Sunny Hodge-Campbell, Angela and Seth Harney, Mary Mendez, Katy Mendez, and Allison and Joey Richards and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Kody Ryan Hodge Scholarship Fund, Amarillo National Bank, PO Box 1, Amarillo, TX 79105, the purpose of which will benefit students in the theater arts program at Amarillo College.

    Ryan and Kim,

It was my great pleasure to have Kody in our program here at Amarillo College. His intelligence and ease on stage made for a delightful time in SILENT SKY. The promise of his potential will be greatly missed by us all.

We all pray for your comfort at this time…
