Lily “Jackie” Mercer-August 29, 2012

Lily “Jackie” Mercer, 90, of Silverton, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012.   Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday,

September 1, 2012 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainview, 710 Joliet Street.

Jackie was born on January 1, 1922 in Breckenridge, Texas to Jack and Lily Wofford.  She was a lifelong farmer and rancher.  She was also a teacher and librarian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Mercer; and a daughter, Ann Wingo.

She is survived by a son, Mike Mercer and wife Janet of Perrin, Texas; a daughter, Junis Hutsell of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109 or to the Briscoe Library, 415 Main St. Silverton, Texas 79257.

    Jackie was a treasure. I always enjoyed being around her. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, I know that she leaves me with good memories & her family with a mountain of memories. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
