Margarita L. Martinez – August 3, 2017

Margarita L. Martinez, 64, of Amarillo died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Tony Castro officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Margarita was born Jan. 19, 1953, in Rotan to Modesto and Felomena Leija. She married Eugene Martinez on Feb. 14, 1970, in Tulia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Felomena “Flo” Martinez.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Martinez, of Amarillo; seven sons, Jeffery Martinez and wife Patricia, Roman Martinez and Mo Martinez and wife Jennifer, all of Amarillo, Jerome Martinez and wife Gigi, of Clarendon, John Martinez, of Cisco, Pete Martinez, of Eastland, and Aaron Martinez, of Albany; a daughter, Gina Martinez and husband Mark of Albany; three daughters-in-law, Kelly Vickers of Cisco, Jessica Martinez, of Ben Wheeler, and Brittney Pruter, of Albany; a son-in-law, Reyes Martinez, of Amarillo; ten grandchildren, Adam, Karleigh, Matthew, Erykah, Valerie and husband Daniel Frescas, Olivia, Emily, Isabella, Mary-Margaret and Abby; a great-grandchild, Brazen, and one more on the way; her mother-in-law, Francis Martinez; two brothers, Jimmy Leija and Juan Perez; and her best friend, Rita O’Con.

    My sweet sister in law that I loved very much, I wish I could have been there to say my last good bye but just know I am there in spirit and I will always treasure the memories I have of you, my heart aches but knowing that you are rejoicing in our Lord’s presence eases my heart ache, love you today and always.

    Jerome, I am so sorry. Though I never met her, she must have been a wonderful Mom to have such a sweet son as you are. She was beautiful. May God comfort you and the family as you go on without her.
