Mattie F. Higgins Thomas – June 22, 2017

Mattie F. Higgins Thomas, 87, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 22, 2017.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m, Monday, June 26, 2017, at Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado with Jim Shelburne, senior pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mattie was born June 2, 1930, in Deaf Smith County to Fred and Catherine Stinger Higgins.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She married A. Ralph Thomas on June 3, 1966, in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Clifford D. Seay; her sister, Billie Harris; and three brothers, Charles Higgins, Fred “Tiny” Higgins, and John Higgins.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Seay and wife Clara of Garden Plain, Kansas; step-daughters, Elaine Schlegel and husband Jerry, and Pat Lewis and husband Roger, all of Amarillo; a stepson, Cecil Thomas and wife Kathy, of Wheeler; a daughter-in-law, Mary Seay, of Las Vegas, New Mexico; two sisters, Luella Thomas, of Hereford, and Alberta Cantwell, of Benson, Arizona; two brothers, Ted Higgins, of Hereford, and Bob Higgins, of Lubbock; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the funeral home.

  1. We were sorry to hear about Mattie and also Swish several years ago.they were like a second set of parents to me.Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.If Cecil or Ronnie ever get back to Lakin would love to have them look us up. Love to all. Tom and Sandy Calkins
