Max Brown – August 27, 2016

Max Brown, 71, of Sunray, died Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Sunray United Methodist Church with Rev. David McGaughy, pastor, Brown Obit Picofficiating.  Burial will follow at the Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, New Mexico at 3:30 P.M. MST.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox

Max was born on August 18, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas to Virgil “Brownie” and Afton “Bobbie” Brown.  He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was one of the first on the River Ron Force.   He was a jack of all trades.  He had worked as a cableman for Cable One.  He had worked for the Sunray Coop, and the city of Sunray.  He was a past member of the Sunray School Board and a member of the American Legion and the Sunray United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and taking trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, “Brownie” and “Bobbie” Brown, and a brother, Buddy Brown.

He married Twila Clay on November 30, 1991 in Dumas.

He is survived by his wife, Twila Brown of Sunray; two daughters, Eileen Brasher and husband Jimmy of Canyon, Melissa Kent and husband James of Sunray; two sons, Max Gould Jr. and wife Stephanie of Lubbock, James Brown and wife Arin of Sunray; sister, Konda Shelton and husband Tom of Gunbarrel City; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Emily, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Anthony, Harley, Zooey, and Aspen; a niece, Shauna Ricci; a nephew, Trice Shelton; and his faithful companion, Shadow.

The family will be at 804 Ave. P in Sunray and suggests memorials be to the Sunray United Methodist Church Carpet Fund, 610 Ave. L, Sunray, Texas  79086 or to the Autism Cares Foundation, P.O. Box 180, Richboro, PA  18954.
