Ola B. McDonald – April 7, 2012

Ola B. McDonald, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 7, 2012.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April, 11, 2012 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Kyle Pope, minister, Olsen Park Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. McDonald was born May 5, 1927 in Shamrock to Alvin B. and Maud (Honeycutt) Fritts.  She married William R. McDonald on November 13, 1946 in Amarillo.  He preceded her in death on November 14, 1974.  Mrs. McDonald graduated from Amarillo High School and was a member of Olsen Park Church of Christ.  She lived in the Texas panhandle all but the last two years of her life, and thought there was no place better.

She is survived by two sons, Bill and wife Sandy of Plano, and Kenneth Dale and wife Merrell of Amarillo; a brother Ira Lee Fritts and wife Merlene of Amarillo; a step-brother John Cecil Fritts of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Amy Hendrix of Plano, Kris McDonald of Austin, and Jennifer Allen of Gleason, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Austin and Abby Hendrix and Margaret McDonald.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the funeral home.

    I have often thought of Ola. I still have the Christmas ornament she gave me that I put on my tree every year. My thoughts and prayers for her family, whom she adored. She was a wonderful lady.
