Robert "Bob" Daniel – July 18, 2017

Robert “Bob” Daniel, age 79, of Amarillo died Tuesday, July 18, 2017.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Jim Daniel officiating.  Burial will precede the service at 9:00 a.m. MST at Melrose Cemetery in Melrose N.M.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Robert was born on September 6, 1937 in Folsom, Oklahoma to Raymon and Grace Daniel.
He married Patsy Ruth Adams of Melrose on January 3, 1957, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  She passed on in November 1989. He then married Virginia McCord Burt in Amarillo, in 1992.
Bob retired from Pantex and opened Daniel’s Drive Inn in 1981.  He was a fast pitch softball pitcher for over 30 years.  He traveled all over singing with the Good News Quartet.  He was a deacon and taught senior adults in Sunday School at Hillcrest Baptist and Temple Baptist Church for several years.
Robert was a witness to everyone he met by sharing his love of the Lord, and by giving much of his time to others through a food delivery ministry.
Robert was predeceased by his wife Patsy Ruth Adams Daniel, and wife Virgina McCord Burt Daniel, and a brother, Don Daniel.
He was survived by his sons, Gary Daniel and wife LaDonna, Charles Daniel and wife Mari; his step-daughters, Debra Campoamor and Shelly Akerly and husband Bruce; his brothers, Jim Daniel and wife Lanell, of Gravette, Arkansas, Billy Joe Daniel and wife Sue, and Dan Daniel of Amarillo, a sister-in-law, Joby Daniel, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to:  Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2901 Martin Road, Amarillo, Texas 79107 or the High Plains Food Bank, 815 Ross Street, Amarillo, Texas 79102.

  1. Gary and Charlie, we are so sorry to hear about the loss of Bob. I really enjoyed playing Fastpitch against and with him. It was a real honor to be able to catch him the last couple years he played. I have some great memories of those times playing days. I really wish we could have attended but was out of town and had to miss. Sorry. All of the family will be in our prayers and thoughts. God bless.

  3. I have only precious memories of my Uncle Robert. I consider my family tree, and heritage of faith, as one of the Lord’s most sustaining and guiding provisions in my life. Gary, Charles, you are in my heart and thoughts and prayers, and I love you both dearly. One Fine Day . . our reunion will have no end. Come, Lord Jesus.

  5. We were so sorry to hear about Bob. He was such a great person and an inspiration to me. He would always come and say hi to me at the Diagnostic Clinic and give me a big hug. I loved that, it made my day! I also remember him and Wyley and others laying hands on me right before my brain surgery. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me.
