Skelton LeRoy “Lee” Napier, Jr. “Bubba”, 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 14, 2017.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017, in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Jim Smith officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday in Hutchins Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Lee was born and raised in Hutchins, where he became mayor. He loved golf, baseball and football. He attended SMU on a baseball and football scholarship.   Lee moved to Amarillo in 1967 to become a partner with Ordway Saunders Insurance Company. He was a very active member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
He married Bettye Jo Harrison on Nov. 26, 1948, in Wilmer. She preceded him in death in 2006.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Skelton “Bud” Napier.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Napier Tinsley and husband David, of Canyon and Kathy Napier Chance and husband Doug, of Amarillo; a son, Scott Lee Napier, of Amarillo; a sister, Marilyn Sanders of Dallas; six grandchildren, Amanda Mathias and husband Matthew, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Allison Whisenant and husband Ty, of Lubbock, and Elizabeth Green and husband Nate, Jennifer Woods and husband Chris, Cameron Tinsley and husband Randy and Kelsey Reynolds and husband Steven, all of Amarillo; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 4600 S. Western, Amarillo, TX 79109.

Lee was my mentor and I loved him. He was a very special man and will be missed. love thoughts and prayers for each of you.
I worked at Canyonview when Mr Napier lived there.
He was like a father to me. I will miss him very much.
