AB Fincher, 85, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 27, 2025.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
AB was born March 11, 1940 in Tulia, TX to Arb an Julia Fincher. He lived in Amarillo, TX most of his life and graduated from Palo Duro High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp Reserve coming back to work at Plains Chevrolet. In 1967, he was excited to develop and teach in the new Auto Collision Repair program at Palo Duro High School. AB worked as a teacher for Amarillo ISD for 32 years. He also owned and operated AB Fincher’s Body Shop since 1983.
AB never met a Hot Rod he didn’t love and spent a lifetime buying, rebuilding, driving, and selling cars and trucks of many makes and models. Until he went in the hospital about a month ago, he was still looking for the next great buy.
He loved his sons and grandchildren with passion and enjoyed attending sporting events in which they were participating. His family was the most important part of his life and he was well loved.
AB is survived by sons, Skeet Fincher and Brian McWatters and wife Cindie; granddaughters, Zoie Fincher and Taylor McWatters; grandsons, Xander Fincher, Teagan McWatters, and Trenton McWatters; and life-long friend, Saundra Skipper Hoynacki all of Amarillo, TX.
The family requests memorials be made to the Ike Avery Memorial Scholarship Fund at Palo Duro High School, Attn: Amarillo ISD Accounting Dept. 7200 I40 West, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
