Alan Roberson, 89, of Amarillo, TX went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2024.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Will Esler officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Alan was born in Amarillo to Howard Pitts Roberson and Mittie Corrine Elrod Roberson. He lived in Amarillo his whole life except when he was in college and when he trained in New York City for his job with Merrill Lynch.

Alan attended Amarillo High School and then went to Oklahoma University. Boomer Sooner! In 1963, he married Sandra Jayne Davis, another Boomer Sooner, and they were blessed with two children, Patrick and Courtney.

Alan was active in many community organizations. He was president of the board of directors for the Amarillo Better Business Bureau. He was an appointee of the OU Association for many years. He also was on the Baptist St. Anthony’s Foundation. He took an interest in the Business School at West Texas A&M and worked with many students there. Alan was known as Mr. Soccer as he was one of the founders of the Panhandle Plains Soccer League he developed, coached, and refereed.

Most important, he was a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and lived a life well lived.

After he retired from Merrill Lynch in 2000, he became very active in Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch and served as board president. 

He was a golfer from the age of 14. He even continued to play after his vision was impaired. He could hit the ball well and even putt but needed help finding where his ball went. He also loved to travel and played golf all over the United States.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sandie Roberson; son, Patrick Roberson, of Austin; daughter, Courtney Alayne Johnson and husband Stuart Wayne Johnson, and their children, Samantha Lynn Johnson, the triplets, Bailey Alayne Johnson, Jared Wayne Johnson, Ashely Nichole Johnson; and his brother, Jay Howard Roberson and his wife Helen.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001, Heal the City, PO Box 2556, Amarillo, TX 79105, two of his favorite charities.
