Alton Elwood Jolly “Bubs”, 94, of Amarillo, TX passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Bubs was born in Olton, TX to Elza and Ruby Jolly on July 31, 1931. He married the love of his life, Hattie Mae Durham on January 1, 1953. Shortly after marriage, he was deployed to Korea during the Korean War. When he returned, he started working for BNSF Railroad for 37 years. After retirement, he bought a motor home and began traveling everywhere.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Jolly; parents, Elza and Ruby Jolly; brother, Arnold Jolly; sister, Freda Scott; grandchildren, Cody Austin Oliver and Lindsay Alison Jolly; great-granddaughter, Ava Kai Jolly; and son-in-law, John Bell.
Bubs is survived by his sister, Debbie Newman (Terry); four children, Gene Jolly (Karan), Becky Bell, Billy Jolly (Tracy), and Pat Henson (Donny); eight grandchildren, Kaprece Jolly, Sean Bell (Keva), Nick Bell (Ashley), Kayley Jolly, Billy Jolly (Kailey), Kasie Massey (Jeremiah), Zach Oliver (Michelle), and Carson Oliver (Barbie); and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
