Amy Vigil Maldonado

Amy Vigil Maldonado, 47, of Amarillo, TX passed away January 23, 2026.

Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Amy was born August 25, 1978 in Amarillo, TX to Alvin and Dora Bustamante Vigil. She was an amazing caregiver. Amy had a degree in the medical field but always found herself being a teacher and babysitter. She loved to see the kids smile and was happily known to them as Mrs. Amy and well known as Mimi by many more.

Amy loved to see everyone together with smiles on their faces, full bellies, and a drink in their hand. If she had the opportunity, she would dance with you and spin you round till your stomach hurt!

She is preceded in death by her mother, Dora Bustamante Solis; grandmother, Marie Padilla; grandfather, Enrique Bustamante; and grandson, Emmanuel Maldonado.

She is celebrated through the living by her grandmother, Natalia Bustamante; sons, Gabriel Maldonado Jr and Devin Maldonado; daughter in law, Denise Gutierrez; beautiful granddaughter and grandson Elena Maldonado and Eliel Gutierrez; her father, Alvin Vigil; stepmother, Rosie Vigil; and through her brothers, Carlos Vigil, Joseph Vigil, and Joel Vargas; many more loving family members; and her girls, her cholas, her crew, who will forever celebrate Amy “Shorty” Vigil Maldonado.

She would like to tell everyone who came into her life, to give much love, always forgive, smile, and remember, it’s “never goodbye, see you laters.”
