Awsten "Awty" Taylor Amelia Galvan left this mortal coil on July 21st, 2026 at 7 years old surrounded by her family and friends. In typical Awty fashion, she came into this world on her parents’ first anniversary and left it on her Gigi's 60th birthday.
If Awty was a force of nature, she’d be a Sunday breeze. She was determined to live out her life in a comfy place, with her cat, unbothered by the woes of physical and occupational therapy.
She loved attention, and she got ALOT of it. She loved her Aicardi Sisters. She loved the taste of grape jelly and cream cheese icing. Most of all, she loved her family.
She may have had a short life, but left a long legacy, inspiring family, friends, and supporters all over the world to learn more about rare diseases and to fight for equitable access.
She will be remembered for her strength, persistence, and incredible fashion sense.
Awty is preceded in death by her great grandparents Sarah Will, Amelia Galvan, William Tucker, and Carroll Stater.
She is survived by her parents, Austin and Ceasarae Galvan; brothers, Holden and Kaidence; sister, Arrowen; grandparents, Brent and Star Stater, and Robert Galvan; great-grandparents, Beverly Stater, Linda and Mike Emert, Willie Galvan, Sharyn and Steve Birchfield; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 31, 2026, at The Amarillo Botanical Gardens, 1400 Streit Dr., Amarillo, Texas 79106. Please wear purple or pink. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Aicardi Syndrome Foundation, https://aicardisyndromefoundation.org.
