Benjamin "Ben" Barrera

May 23, 2001 — January 27, 2026

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Benjamin “Ben” Barrera age 24, on January 27th in Happy, Texas.

Ben will be available for viewing from 12-5:00 PM, Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 2, 2026, at Trinity Fellowship Student Ministry Center. Interment will follow in Happy Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Ben was born May 23, 2001, in Amarillo, TX to Alexandria Saenz and Benjamin Barrera Sr.

He went to high school in Happy, Texas and Randall High School. He was enrolled at Amarillo College pursuing a degree in business. His dream was to one day own his own business.

Ben’s life was not without struggles, and like many, he faced battles that were difficult and deeply personal. There were challenges with those battles that he carried, and though those battles are part of his story, they will not define who he was.

On the day Ben passed, he made the most important decision of his life, and he gave his heart to God. We hold tightly to the promise that it is never too late for grace, never too late for forgiveness, and never too late to come home to the Lord. Because of his faith in that moment, we find peace in knowing Ben is now resting in the arms of Jesus, no longer suffering, no longer in pain, and sitting beside the only One who could take it all away made whole, healed, and free. As Scripture reminds us,

“I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” Isaiah 44:22

And we also hold onto this promise:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new is here!”

2 Corinthians 5:17.

Today, we choose to remember Ben as God sees him forgiven, redeemed, and deeply loved. A son with a radiant smile, a creative spirit, a passion for basketball and fitness, and a heart that loved deeply, especially when it came to his daughter, Capri “PriPri,” who was his greatest joy. He loved spending time with his family, especially all his cousins.

While we grieve the loss of his presence here, we also celebrate the hope we have in Christ and the promise that Ben’s story did not end in struggle, but in salvation.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Capri “PriPri” Boydstun, who was the light of his life; his loving mother, Alexandria Boydstun, and stepfather, Shane Boydstun; his cherished grandparents, Wela and Welo; his aunt and uncle Javier and Monica Rodriguez, and their 5 children Jay, Jacob, Jaziela, Jailynn, and Jairo; his uncle Jr and son Dayson; and his aunt and uncle Joaquin and Stephany Saenz and their daughter Sophie, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
