Betty Joyce Andrews

Betty Joyce Andrews, 86, of Amarillo, TX passed away August 22, 2025.

Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM, Monday, August 25, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Betty was born in Amarillo, TX on July 29, 1939 to Paul and Joyce Johnson. She graduated from River Road High School in 1958. Betty attended West Texas State University and completed her bachelor and master’s degrees in education. She taught math at Bowie Junior High and later, Amarillo High School.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gene Andrews; and parents, Paul and Joyce Johnson.

Betty is survived by her sons, Derek Andrews, Scott Andrews (Lori), and Don Andrews (LaDonna); grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Claire, Olivia, Meredith, Preston, and Madison; three great-grandchildren, and sister, Donna Vonosinski.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed the opportunity to teach for so many years. Her hobbies included, needle point and taking care of her flowers; especially roses.

The family wishes to thank Visiting Angels Home Health, Park Central, Moore Assisted Living, Park Central Ware Nursing Home, and BSA Hospice for their loving care of Betty.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Stephen Methodist Church, 4600 Western, Amarillo, TX 79109.
