Betty Maud Steen, 98, of Dumas, passed away in January 5, 2026 in Ballinger, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Darrell Wait, pastor at First Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Betty was born on October 14, 1927 in Clayton, NM. to Samuel Roscoe Dutcher and Edna Viola (Burton) Dutcher. She was the youngest of nine children.

She married Norman Oscar Steen on January 18, 1947. They spent six years in Colorado and Texas before returning home from Army/Air Force duty and settling in the Panhandle area.

Betty wore many hats during her ninety-eight years with her family. She worked a farm/ranch life along with Norman for over twenty-five years, filling station top hand and bookkeeper, U.S. postal rural mail carrier, seamstress, and awesome cook.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman; a son, Wesley; six sisters; two brothers; and her parents.

Betty is survived by a son, Gary and Cindy Steen of Plano; a daughter, Shannon and Jimmie Caughron of Ballinger; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
