June 24, 1939 — September 1, 2025

Billie David Orman passed from this life into the presence of the Lord on September 1, 2025, surrounded by his family whom he loved dearly. He was 86 years old.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 5, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Church in Amarillo. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM, Friday, September 5, 2025 at Floydada Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Born June 24, 1939 in Floydada, Texas, Bill was the son of W.L. and Glenna Orman. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1957 and attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon. In his younger days, he was fond of racing cars, and it was during such an outing to Petersburg, Texas that he met the love of his life, Kaye Biggers. They were married on February 23, 1962.

Bill worked in the cotton compress business for more than 40 years in Floydada, Lockney and Plainview. He retired in 2010. He was an active member of his community, serving on the Floydada ISD School Board for many years, as a member of the Floydada Rotary Club, and as a member of Masonic Lodge #712, also in Floydada.

Bill had an uncanny ability to bring joy and lightness to everyone around him. Whether it was a perfectly timed joke, his mischievous grin, or a story told just the right way, his sense of humor was not just quick-witted—it was generous, kind, and had a way of putting people at ease. The twinkle in his eyes revealed an appreciation for others who could humor him in kind.

Known for being a hardworking man who never took himself too seriously, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. He loved spending summers at the lake with his children, watching football with his grandchildren, and rebuilding motors — especially if they were GM.

Bill will be remembered not only for the love and laughter he so freely gave, but for the affectionate nicknames he bestowed on everyone, his need to know the weather forecast and price of gas in any given city, and his fondness for a cold beer.

He loved reading about and traveling to Germany, due to its culture and history, which includes both cars and WWII memorabilia.

Bill was a lifelong fan of Elvis as well as any comedy movie.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents W.L. and Glenna Orman and survived by his wife, Kaye Orman of Amarillo, his children Misti Jeffryes of Dallas, and Shane Orman (Paige) of Amarillo, Texas, grandchildren Karley Love (Kyle) of Amarillo, Max Orman and Brunner Orman, both of Lubbock, great grandson Sutton Love of Amarillo, and brother Larry Orman (Cheryl) of Amarillo.
