Carell Wesley Handley

Carell Wesley Handley, 89, of Amarillo, TX passed away June 26, 2024.

Visitation will be from 2-3:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at Second Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Carell was born December 3, 1934 in Floydada, TX to the late Solomon and Lillie Handley. He graduated from Floydada High School and attended 1 year of college. He lived in Claude, Dumas, Hobbs New Mexico and finally ended up in Amarillo in 1965 until his death. He married Shirley Marie Ecker in 1956 and had 3 children, then in 1984 he married Meredith Ann Branum in Amarillo. Carell worked in construction most of his life focusing on heating, air, and carpentry. He enjoyed playing slow and fast pitch baseball, raising Emus, and riding motorcycles. Carell loved to fish, hunt, and woodwork. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. 

Carell is preceded in death by his wife, Meredith Ann Handley; stepdaughter, Becky Eubanks; 3 brothers, Leon Handley, Randall Handley, and Ben Handley; 2 sisters, Laverne Lunn and Eileen Nixon.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Handley and wife Mary of Alvarado, TX, and Kelly Handley and wife Rebecca of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Laurie Crouch and husband Randy of Magnolia, TX; stepson, Brian Branum and wife Carolyn of Amarillo, TX; and stepdaughter, Jan Carroll and husband Bill of Amarillo, TX; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren.
