Carol Campbell

September 9, 1939 — December 6, 2025

Carol Ann Campbell, 86, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79109. A prayer and celebration of life will follow at 5:00 PM. As requested, her ashes will be laid to rest in Maui, one of her happy places where many memorable family trips were hosted over the years.

Carol Ann was born on September 9, 1939, to C.R. and Florence Warren. After graduating from Amarillo High School, she attended Amarillo College. She met her future husband, Bruce Campbell, at a house party; the couple became engaged in two weeks’ time and married two months later on February 4, 1961. Neither of their parents knew how briefly they had known each other when they wed. Together, they enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage and took tremendous pride in raising their two children, Bob and Becky. Due to her husband's career, their family adventures included moves to many locations– Lincoln, Nebraska; Burlington, Iowa; Quincy, Illinois; Lexington, Kentucky; and Pass Christian, Mississippi– before returning home to Amarillo, Texas. Along the way, she accumulated dear friends with her sweet and loving personality.

During her life, Carol Ann worked at Southwestern Public Service, The Helium Activity, and later owned and operated a Diet Center, yet her greatest devotion was always to her family. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and PEO. An avid reader, Carol Ann would rarely be caught without a paperback mystery novel. In her free time, she enjoyed games of all sorts, particularly bridge and Upwords, for which she was a competitive club player. Her home-sewn creations, including matching outfits for her grandkids at every holiday, were legendary. She turned her husband’s naval and business travel demands into opportunities to be with her children and grandchildren as much as possible, frequently making solo cross-country trips.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Campbell; a son, Bob Campbell and wife Jody of Naperville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Brittney Horn and husband Joe of Chelsea, Michigan, Natalie Owen and husband Aaron of Madison, Wisconsin, and Ross Campbell of Chicago, Illinois; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Hailey, and Skyler Horn, and Vincent and Peter Owen.

Carol Ann is also survived by two sisters, Debbie Mullins and husband Bill of Lubbock, Texas, and Jo Dawn McCormick and husband Steve of Bonney Lake, Washington; and six nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Becky, and her brother-in-law Laird Campbell and his wife, Connie.

Memorials are suggested to Rexanna’s Foundation, an affiliate of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. https://rexannasfoundation.org/
