Casey Dawn (Posey) Brown passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 44.
Memorial Service will be at 4:00 P.M., Friday, September 18, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount.
Born January 16,1982 in Sweetwater, Texas, Casey was raised in Amarillo by Pat and Galen Barrett. She was previously married to Devan Brown for 12 years during which they raised three sons, Derek Brown, Trey Brown, and Caullin Brown. Casey graduated from Amarillo High in 2001 and was on track to graduate from West Texas A&M in Fall 2027 with a bachelor’s degree in Education.
Casey followed in her mother’s footsteps choosing to work in education. She worked in Amarillo ISD for over 10 years, some of those alongside Pat. She was devoted to making sure her students and fellow staff members felt heard and appreciated. Once she graduated she hoped to become a teacher and continue to inspire all she encountered.
Casey was a cheerleader in her family's lives. She was always the first one into a stadium for her children when it came to sports and the loudest person in the stands. Above all she wanted her children to feel supported and loved even if it meant she risked making a fool of herself. She was an avid sports fan when it came to football and volleyball, whether playing or watching. She would do just about anything for the Texas Longhorns to win a national championship title. Casey also loved to hang out with her family, listen to good music, and eat good food.
Casey is preceded in death by her beloved mother Pat Barrett, her biological father Jim Posey, her uncle Jimmy Jones, as well as her grandparents. Casey is survived by her stepfather Galen Barrett, her three sons, Derek Brown and wife Katelynn, Trey Brown, and Caullin Brown, her brothers Cody Posey and wife Bonnie, Andy Barrett and wife Storny, Cody Barrett and wife Whitney, her uncle Ron Tidmore and wife Meg, uncle Dean Barrett and wife Cathy, as well as many nieces and nephews and her two dogs Dakota and Texas.
While she will be missed dearly it is a comfort to know she is surrounded by loved ones in heaven who will take care of her and watch over us with her guidance.
