Charles Otha Dixon went to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 4:28 p.m.

Charles was born on September 27, 1934, in Best, Texas to Clarence Oliver Dixon and Ivy Jewel Sims.  He grew up in McCamey, Texas and graduated from High School in 1954.  He attended Texas Tech University, where he played football.  Charles graduated from Texas Tech University with a BA in Business Administration.  Charles completed his master's degree in education at WTAMU.

Charles was united in marriage with Marianne Melton on June 6, 1959, in McCamey, TX.  The couple welcomed their daughter, Michele in 1960, son, Michael in 1961, and son, Clay in 1965.

Charles retired from Borger Independent School District in 2000 with 38 years of coaching and administrative work. Throughout Charles' life he enjoyed serving at First Baptist Church, of Borger, Texas as a youth and adult Sunday School teacher. Charles and Marianne volunteered at Panfork Youth Camp for 8 years with Jay and Brenda Hammond (directors).

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ivy Dixon, brother, Terry Dixon, and sister, Lawana Dennis.

Charles is survived by his wife Marianne Dixon, daughter, Michele Johnson and husband Guy of Borger, TX, son, Michael Dixon and wife Judy Jo of Placerville, CA, son Clay Dixon and wife Teresa of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth Carlson, Jessica Andrews, Joshua Johnson, David Dixon, Paul Dixon, Sam Dixon, Kaylee Santana, Abby Dixon, Grace Dixon, Alivia Dixon, Chloe Dixon, Ellie Dixon, Clay Dixon and Maggie Dixon; 18 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Cathy Edwards and Glenda Dennis; and nephew, Archie Lee Dennis.

Services for Charles will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo, TX.
