Clifford Newton Hair III, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on April 15, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Cliff was born on September 1, 1968, in Houston, Texas, to Clifford Newton Hair Jr. and Florence H. Hair. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1987. Cliff dedicated much of his career to home healthcare, serving as an Operations Manager. Later in life, he transitioned into his true passion: building and painting custom firearms. An esteemed member of the local firearm community, Cliff traveled to various gun shows with close friends to showcase his meticulous work and share his expertise with others.
Beyond his craft, Cliff was a man of many interests, most recently finding a love for drones. As with everything he did, also earning his FAA license to fly drones both commercially and recreationally. While he enjoyed many hobbies, his favorite moments were spent flying drones with his eldest grandson, Noah. To his grandsons, he was affectionately known as Pops;—a title he considered one of his greatest honors. Cliff met the love of his life, Dena Hair, in Amarillo, and they were married on March 28, 1998. While he took great pride in his work, Cliff’s greatest accomplishments were his children. He was their biggest supporter, always encouraging them to pursue their own passions with the same intensity he had for his own.
He is survived by his wife, Dena Hair, of the home; his children, Mathew Hair (Melinda) of Amarillo, and Taylor Hair of Amarillo; and his most treasured grandchildren, Noah and Carver. He is also survived by his parents, Clifford N. Hair Jr. and Florence H. Hair of Midland; his brothers, Michael Hair (Jessica) of Midland, and Joe Hair (Jamie) of Celina; and his nieces and nephews, Bailey, Kaitlyn, Zoe, and Oliver.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Hillside Christian Church West Campus, with Mike Farley of Journey Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo.
