Consuelo "Connie" Zapata

Consuelo “Connie” Zapata, 80, of Dumas passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 surrounded by family. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 P.M. om Tuesday April 14, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Encounter Church. Burial will follow at the Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Connie was born on June 26, 1945 in Edinburg, Texas to Francisco Olivarez and Demetria Cantu Olivarez. She grew up in Dimmitt and worked at KFC, McDonald’s, Hardee’s, JBS, the Moore County Hospital, and in security. She loved to Crochet and work in her garden.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maribel Ortiz; and two sons, Merrill Trevino and Hector “Anthony” Trevino

She is survived by her husband of over 32 years, Joaquin Zapata; three daughters, Esmeralda Orozco and husband Elias, Belinda Angeles and husband Porfirio, and Cynthia Trevino, all of Dumas; a brother, Juan Olivarez of Edinburg; son-in-law, Armando Ortiz of Stinnett; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, and eighteen great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved fur babies, Morena and Princess.
