Danny Ray Luther

Danny Ray “Dan” Luther, 84, passed away on October 3, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel in Amarillo.

Dan was born on July 30, 1942, in Elk City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1960 and attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. In 1977, he married Beth Dotson of Amarillo, and together they shared 47 years of marriage.

Dan enjoyed a successful career as a salesman at Amarillo Hardware, where his accomplishments earned him numerous awards and trips as a top salesman. After Amarillo Hardware closed, he continued his career in insurance sales.

Athletic throughout his life, Dan played basketball in high school and later participated in a pool league, but golf was his favorite pastime. He loved spending time on the course, watching sports, and going to the movies. He and Beth enjoyed their weekly outings to eat, and he especially enjoyed entertaining his children and grandchildren when they came to town. Those visits brought together many of the things he valued most: family, good food, and time spent together.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Luther, and his parents, Cyril and Wilma Hedrick.

He is survived by his daughters, Dana Turney and Joelle Jerden; his stepdaughters, Becky Bell-Linke and her husband, Kenny, and Tiffany Denton and her husband, Jeff; his grandchildren, Christina, Patricia, Jessica, Amanda, Fisher, Sierra, Hazel, Lauren, Ryan, and Austin; his great-grandsons, Riley and Preston; and his sister, Shirley Conway and her husband, John.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends, who will cherish the memories of time spent with him.
