Darlene met Robert (Bob) Lyle of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and they were later married on March 24, 1957, where they made their home. She worked for Nebraska Securities Company until the birth of their daughter, Jan. At that point, she became a stay-at-home mom for Jan and Randy who was born two years later. In 1965, the family transferred to Clovis, New Mexico where Bradley was born. Fifteen years later, in 1980, another work-related transfer followed resulting in a move to Guymon, Oklahoma. Darlene grew up in the Congregational Church and after their marriage, she and Bob joined the First Presbyterian Church. Later, in Amarillo, Darlene and Bob became members of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was involved in the Women of Church Circle (Meta Thomas), Footsteps Ministry, and served in various other capacities within the church. Darlene enjoyed following her daughter’s musical talent on the piano, along with her sons in their sporting activities of football, baseball, basketball and track.
