Darrell Leon Hoover

October 18, 1935 — June 3, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darrell Leon Hoover, who left this world on June 3, 2025. He will be so missed, but we know that he has been happily reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Phyllis, his daughter, Trish, and his mother, Ruth.

Darrell was born on October 18, 1935 in Stillwater, OK to Kenneth Hoover and Ruth Broyles Hoover. He spent his childhood in Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas where he learned much about farming, ranching and construction.

He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a degree in agriculture and then joined the US Army.

On October 25, 1963 Darrell married the love of his life, Phyllis Mask. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams, supporting each other through every season of life.

During his career he was considered a premier builder - one of the best, incorporating Darrell Hoover Builders in 1975. His craftsmanship and vision shaped countless spaces into family estates and beautiful offices in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma and New Mexico. His passion for creating not just houses, but true homes, was evident in his work and in the way he cared for those around him.

He enjoyed so many things - his family and friends, hunting and fishing, wood carving and flying. He piloted his own small plane taking family and friends on trips all over the country. And he was proud to have served his community as a member of the Shriners.

Darrell is survived by his son, Mike and wife Kandi of Amarillo; his daughter, Leslie Bullard of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; brother-in-law Richard Mask and wife Linda of Yukon, OK and their family.

Throughout his 89 years, Darrell made a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community. Whether through his generosity, his wisdom, or his unwavering sense of humor, he touched countless lives with warmth and dedication always going out of his way to help those around him in need.
