Darrell was born in Pampa, Texas on January 8th, 1940, to Lloyd & Edna Maxwell. After graduating high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Malone on December 6th of 1958. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1963-1967. He reported for duty on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Bennington where he traveled to multiple countries during his deployment as a ship welder. His favorite visit being Japan.
After his service, he returned home to Pampa, Texas, and his growing family. He proudly supported his family by starting his own business, M&M Trucking. Darrell was a very successful businessman in both trucking & farming. He created a lasting legacy of hard work that he passed on to future generations. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, attending auctions, spending time with family, telling stories, riding tractors, and tinkering in the barn. He was a humble man who was always willing to help anyone in need. Whether it was with a wrench or his vast mechanical skills, he was there to help. Handshakes went a long way with him. He was a man of his word. His door was always open for all who had a story.
He is preceded in death by his first-born infant daughter, Susan Dee Maxwell, his parents, in laws, Fred & Mabel Malone, son in law, Todd Posey, brother-in-law, James Malone and Robert Malone, nephew Kerri Malone, and niece, Dorinda Haynes.
