David Clark Hawkins, 88, of Dumas, TX passed away June 5, 2026.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 12, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
David was born April 27, 1938 in Swisher County, TX to Advil Ray Hawkins and Verda Gem Hawkins. He graduated from Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University and Amarillo College. David had worked as a police officer and juvenile probation officer in Moore County for many years.
David was a collector and loved to hunt, fish, woodworking, old cars, and spending time with family. He was a longtime member of Pioneer Gun Collections and the NRA (National Rifle Association).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Advil and Verda Hawkins; wife, Virda Jean Hawkins; and brothers, Alan Ray Hawkins and Phil Hawkins.
David is survived by son, Terry David Hawkins and wife Rita of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Tresa Fedornak and husband Lee of Wolfforth, TX, and Brenda Ferguson and husband Tony of Spearman, TX; brother, Don Hawkins and wife Ann of Plainview; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
