David Simpson Huey

David Simpson Huey, 83, of Amarillo, TX passed away July 29, 2026.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 3, 2026 at First Family Church, 6101 Bell St. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

David was born July 20, 1943 in Waxhaw, NC to Paul and Mary Huey. He went to work at Grinell Automatic Fire Protection in June of 1961. He met Wyvonne in Lancaster, SC in 1963 and married her a year later at Unity ARP church on July 17, 1964.

In September of 1966, David and Wyvonne welcomed their first son, Ricky, in Charlotte, NC. They then made their way to Amarillo, TX in 1969 where they have resided since. In December of 1970, they welcomed their second son, Randy, into the world. David began working at Casteel Automatic Fire Protection in 1974 where he worked until retirement. He and Wyvonne also invested in numerous residential real estate properties. David and Wyvonne attended First Assembly of God where they have been long term members for over 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his father Paul Young Huey, his mother Mary Velma (Sissy) Huey, and his brother James Gibson (Gibby) Huey.

David is survived by his wife Gelika Wyvonne Huey; his sons Ricky Huey, Randy Huey and Randy's wife Chrystal; his grandchildren Bryce Huey and Bryce's wife Betzy, Ben Huey, Veronica Becerra and Veronica's husband Jose and their children Josie and Mila, Natalia Wilson, and Parker Wilson.
