David Wayne Sechrist, 66, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 23, 2026.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount with Robbie Ashlock officiating. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
David was born in Dalhart, TX to Frances (Smith) and George Sechrist. He was truly a hardworking, amazing, man who took great pride in being a provider and protector of his family that he loved greatly. David was a jack of all trades with one goal of being the best father, husband, and papa. He took great pride in learning and being self-sufficient and teaching his loved ones the same. He insisted on doing it all himself, so it was done one time and done right! David wasn’t wrong, he had to “refix” things too.
David’s great work started with carpentry and only grew from there. He received his associates in HVAC and pursued this for many years to retire from Pantex against his hardworking will. David spent his last few years teaching his replacements at Pantex because he was that great and full of knowledge. Being independent, it was a hard choice for him to retire but much lifted weight for those around him who have watched him work so hard, even when he was sick.
He loved driving his kids and grandkids around sharing memories of all he helped build. He just as much loved to teach these skills to his children and grandchildren. More than anything, David will be remembered for showing up. Even while sick, he showed up for everything and anytime his friends and family needed him. He poured so much love into everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Gary.
David is survived by his wife, Brenda of the home; his children, Shaun, Bonnie, and Summer; brother, James; and his grandchildren, Marc, Keyanna, Tavian, Jada, Mason, McKenzie, Nevaeh, Serenity, Faith, and Malachi; as well as numerous extended family.
