Debra Lea Seibert West, lovingly known as Debbie, passed away on November 1, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, friendship, and music. Throughout her life, Debbie had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, building lasting relationships, and sharing her love of music and her faith with those around her.
One of the greatest love stories of Debbie’s life began in Austin, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Darrell West. Within just six months of meeting, the two were married, beginning a journey together that would span five decades. In January 2026, Debbie and Darrell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a remarkable milestone in a life filled with love, faith, family, and countless cherished memories.
Their journey together was filled with new beginnings and adventures. About halfway through their marriage, Darrell pursued a new calling and became a chiropractor, beginning an entirely new career later in life. What started as a new direction eventually became a family endeavor, with Debbie spending many years working alongside Darrell and their son Aaron in the chiropractic practice. It was another meaningful chapter in their lives together, filled with shared experiences, hard work, and the opportunity to serve others.
Throughout the years, Debbie and Darrell called several different places home. No matter where life took them, Debbie had a special way of making people feel welcome and forming friendships that would last a lifetime. From one community to the next, she gathered dear friends, many of whom remained close to her for decades. Her ability to connect with others was one of the many gifts that made her so special.
Music was woven into the very fabric of Debbie’s life. Born into a family filled with singers and musicians, she developed a deep and lifelong love for music. Family reunions were often filled with the sounds of loved ones taking turns singing their favorite songs and hymns, creating treasured memories and traditions that would carry on through generations.
Her passion for music became an important part of her faith and ministry. For five years, Debbie traveled and sang with the gospel group The Singing Packs, sharing her voice and her faith through music. During her time with the group, she participated in recording two albums in Nashville, Tennessee, a special accomplishment in her musical journey. Throughout her life, Debbie was actively involved in church choirs and leadership teams and served as worship director for several churches. For Debbie, music was far more than a talent or pastime; it was an expression of her faith, a source of joy, and a way to touch the hearts of others.
One of Debbie’s most enduring legacies is the love of music she passed down to her family. Many of her children and grandchildren inherited her musical gifts and passion, with several earning prestigious honors and awards for their musical accomplishments. Through their voices, talents, and continued love of music, Debbie’s influence will be felt and heard for generations to come.
Above all else, Debbie treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother. At the time of her passing, she was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In an especially meaningful moment, the family welcomed a new granddaughter through adoption just two days before Debbie’s passing, one more beautiful addition to the family she loved so dearly.
