Delwin Thomas McGee
Retired Moore County Court at Law Judge • Beloved Husband • Devoted Father • Proud Papa
Delwin Thomas McGee, a man of unwavering integrity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to family and community, gained his well-deserved angel wings.
Delwin is survived by his loving wife and steadfast partner of 28 years, Carrol; his children, Dustin Jones and wife Sade, Derrick Jones and wife Kyndall, and Dylan Jones and wife Taylor; and his cherished grandchildren — Knox, Scout, Huck, Mayli, Dax, and Maddox — who were the pride and joy of his later years. He is also survived by his brothers, Mark McGee and wife Vicki, and Scott McGee, along with numerous nieces and nephews who were all touched by his kindness, humor, and wisdom.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, on December 21, 1953, to Charles and Tommie (Wall) McGee, Delwin grew up with a strong sense of right and wrong and a quiet drive to serve others. After graduating from Coronado High School in 1972, he earned his BBA in Finance before completing his Law Degree from Texas Tech University in 1983. His lifelong dedication to justice led him to serve as Moore County Court at Law Judge for more than 30 years — a tenure marked by fairness, compassion, and an unshakable belief in doing what was right for his community.
Delwin’s life was defined by service. A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Dumas, he lived out his values daily — never seeking recognition but always showing up where he was needed. Whether volunteering through the Dumas Noon Lion’s Club or tirelessly serving at the Dogie Days BBQ (where he was famously in charge of the peaches and a fixture at the corn booth), Delwin modeled what it meant to give back. He inspired his sons — and their friends — to do the same, instilling in them a sense of duty that carried forward into their own service to country and community.
Beyond the courtroom and community events, Delwin’s heart belonged to America’s pastime: baseball. He coached Little League for over a decade, teaching not just the rules of the game but the values of teamwork, perseverance, and humility. Many young athletes walked away from his teams not only better players, but better people. His passion for protecting and advocating for children extended into his work as a strong supporter of CASA 69, where he fought to ensure that the children of Moore County and surrounding areas had a voice.
Delwin leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and faith — a life well lived and well loved. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the example he set will live on in the countless lives he touched.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Delwin’s memory to consider a donation to CASA 69 or the Dumas Noon Lions Club — causes close to his heart.
