Dolores Gloria Baca passed away on March 25, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and devotion to her family. She is now reunited with her husband, Antonio “Tony” Baca, and her children, Manuel Baca and Loretta Baca.
Dolores shared nearly 60 years of marriage with her husband, a bond rooted in loyalty and enduring commitment.
Throughout her life, Dolores worked many jobs, most notably as a seamstress at the Tucumcari Garment Factory. Above all, she took the greatest pride in being a mother, grandmother, and aunt—a true matriarch of her family.
Though small in stature and often quiet, Dolores expressed herself through her actions. She was dependable and caring, always putting others before herself while taking pride in maintaining her home and daily routines. She had a natural sense of humor, a curious spirit, and a way of making others feel comfortable and accepted.
Dolores carried a special love for Christmas throughout the year, often beginning her holiday traditions as early as June.
She believed in living life on her own terms and remained true to herself. Her family finds comfort in knowing she passed peacefully, surrounded by those closest to her, reflecting the strength and character that defined her life.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Phyllis and husband Lorenzo Aragon; her son Lawrence Baca and wife Gwen ; and her son Richard Baca. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with her two sisters, three brothers-in-laws, and six sister-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the lasting impact she made on those around her.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 2, 2026 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be at 12:30 PM (MST) in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
