Donna Louise McCafferty, 80, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on October 24, 2024. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 28, 2024, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Donna was born in Fort Worth, Texas on October 2, 1944, to Maxine Eunice (Frey) and Charles Cleopus Higgins. The family moved to Amarillo where she attended school. She had a love for horses and enjoyed barrel racing. She married Robert “Bob” McCafferty on August 29, 1969. Bob and Donna owned and operated The Garden Spot in Sunset Center from 1973 until 1980. They just celebrated 55 years of marriage. The biggest joy in her life was taking care of her husband and her church family. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. 

She was preceded in death by Maxine Eunice (Frey), mother and Charles Cleopus Higgins, father, Georgia Diane Hargrave, daughter and Bret Hargrave, son. 

She is survived by her husband, Robert McCafferty; sister, Charline Sprouse of Odessa TX, children, Leah Payne, daughter and husband, Steve Payne, of Dallas TX, Deena Bullard, daughter and husband, Brad Bullard, John Hargrave, son, Christie Tredway, daughter and husband, Barry Tredway, Charrisse Arnett, daughter all of Amarillo, TX. Grandchildren Brooke Smith, Tiffany Bonham, Bryan Payne, Brianne Howell, Gentri McLean, Kelsee Milligan, Bradey Bullard, Ashleigh Noland, Amber Richards, Macy McCafferty and Nicole Rose, twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
