Earl Dean Eakes, 87, of Panhandle, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the First Baptist Church Panhandle. Interment will follow in Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas.

Earl “Dean” was born in Ninnekah, Oklahoma on April 12, 1938, and often commented that he got to Texas as soon as he could. He was the son of Herbert Eakes and Marguerite (Stover) Eakes. Dean learned to love farming while growing up on his grandparent’s farm and always knew how the farmers were fairing in Carson County.

Dean spent his professional career working at Vibra-Whirl in Panhandle. He retired from there after 48 years of dedicated service. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed traveling and sightseeing in his leisure time.

He was preceded in death by his father: Herbert Eakes, his stepfather: Bill Tarbutton, his mother: Marguerite Eakes, his sister: Pat Mohan (Jerry), his wife: Jackie, his daughter: Linda, and his stepson: Robert Price.

He is survived by his son: Jeff (Donna), his daughter: Nancy Camp (William), his stepdaughter: Deborah Black (Gary), his stepson: Dale Price (Dena), 10 grandkids, and 16 great grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love.
