Eddie Dan Akin Sr.

Eddie Dan Akin Sr, 82, of Amarillo, Tx, passed June 10, 2024.

Private family services were held.

Eddie was born on November 3, 1941 in Amarillo, Tx He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1959. Eddie spent most of his life living in Amarillo, besides a quick stay in North Carolina, before returning to be with kids and grandkids. He was a retired diesel mechanic from Southwestern Public Service. He had a wealth of knowledge about cars and could diagnose engine troubles by listening to them over the phone and was known to repair cars with just his pocket knife. His biggest joy was spending time with his family and friends and playing dominoes. One of his prized possession was a 1957 Pontiac given to him by his wife on his 50th birthday. He was a dirt track race car owner and driver a hobby carried on by his son Eddie Akin jr., he was an avid fan of NASCAR, enjoyed going to the movies, and root beer floats. He was a man of few words, but infinite wisdom.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Emily Roach, sister, Cookie, brother, Travis Akin and grandson, Matthew Prince.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra Akin, daughter Tammy married to Andy Prince, son Eddie Akin Jr, daughter Ginger Akin, daughter Nancy McCormick, daughter Anji married to Brian Dailey, and son, Andy Akin married to Connie Akin. Loved by his grandchildren : Danny, Bailey, Miles, Rylee, Alayla, Jaxon, and Alexis, along with one great-grandson, Blake.
