Eddie Howard Bacon, 86, of Amarillo, Texas passed away August 2, 2026.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Howard was born November 16, 1939, in Wichita Falls, TX. He married Suzanne Conrad on December 19, 1967 by Fr. Joseph Tash at the chapel at St. Anthony’s. They met while both were attending X-Ray school at St. Anthony’s Hospital. The continued working at St. Anthony’s but Howard then went to work for Dr. Gulde, a Cardiologist. He left there and went to teach at Amarillo College eventually becoming the department head. He went back to school at West Texas A & M University where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Howard also received multiple training in nuclear medicine in Tennessee. After Howard retired, he taught several online courses. Howard and wife Suzanne enjoyed fishing in Arkansas and Colorado and traveling to Las Vegas. He had a wonderful group of friends and shared his “wit” with them.
Howard is survived by his children, Donna Renae Bacon Gore and husband Wes, and Michael Joseph Bacon and wife Christina; sisters, Virginia Pittman and husband Jim and Robbie Gamblin; grandchildren, Julia, Jena, Jordan, Matt, and Josh; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne Conrad Bacon; and son, Howard Charles “Chip” Bacon; and his parents, Zena and Howard Bacon.
