Eddie Gene Prock, 66, of Amarillo, Texas, peacefully left this world to begin his eternal life, whole and new, on June 27, 2026 surrounded by his wife and children.
Eddie was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on November 5, 1959 to Herb and Audrey Prock. He spent a happy childhood growing up outdoors in both Amarillo, Texas and Hollis, Oklahoma with his two brothers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. Eddie was a proud alumnus of Palo Duro High School, class of 1978.
Eddie married his best friend and the love of his life, Teresa Karlin, on March 6, 1981. Together, they raised two children, their daughter, Lindsey, and their son, Chris. Eddie made sure their home was always filled with love, laughter, and adventure. As a nature lover, Eddie always kept his family on their toes with his constant acquiring of animals, both domestic and exotic, and fun toys like go carts and dune buggies. Nothing brought him greater joy than being "Bop" to his grandsons, Paetyn and Karlin. He found special joy in conversations and escapades with Paetyn and Karlin that culminated in an “Eddie Gene” from his wife.
Eddie earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Environmental Science from West Texas A&M University. Eddie worked at Sante Fe Railroad for 20 years and got special joy recounting memories from his time there. Eddie spent a short time with Caldwell Engineering and Windham Schools at TDCJ. Although Eddie held several careers throughout his life, teaching was where he truly found his purpose.
He loved sharing his knowledge with young people, building relationships with his students, and returning each day to the halls of the school that had helped shape him, his alma mater, Palo Duro High School.
Eddie was a devoted Christian husband, father, friend and educator. He loved to tell stories about all of the adventures of his life both big and small, and he was always willing to give an instruction or two on how things should be done. His advice was freely given, his humor was constant, and his love for others was evident in everything he did. His impact on those around him was vast, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him so dearly.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Herb Prock, a brother, Doug Ice, his father and mother-in-law, Louis Dean and Yvonne Karlin.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey and Matthew Walker; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Chris and Elizabeth Prock; his grandsons, Paetyn Walker and Karlin Walker; his mother, Audrey Prock; and his brother, Steve Prock, all of Amarillo.
The family will be available for a visitation on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 6-7:30 pm at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Eddie’s family and friends will celebrate his life on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
The family would like to give thanks to his wonderful nurses from Gentiva Hospice, with special thanks to Jasmine and Bree, and his caretakers from Goodcare especially Jayden, with whom he developed a special friendship.
A quote from Pericles says, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” Eddie's legacy is woven into the lives of all who knew and loved him. Until we meet again, we'll keep laughing, loving, adventuring and telling your stories.
