Edith Gayle Barclay, born May 14th, 1952, in Scott Forest, Mississippi, passed away on April 10, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, Amarillo, Texas.
Gayle was a strong, hardworking single mother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted school teacher who touched many lives, not only through education but through her kindness, patience, and example. She was a great teacher in every sense—both in the classroom and at home.
She had a fun-loving spirit and brought joy and laughter to those around her. Gayle was also an amazing artist, gifted with creativity and a unique way of expressing herself. She was especially talented with crafts, creating meaningful and beautiful things that reflected her heart and personality. She had a special way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and her strength and warmth will never be forgotten.
Gayle is preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Diggs; her mother, Rebecca Diggs; and her beloved son, Johnathan Hipskind. Despite these profound losses, she carried herself with grace and unwavering love.
She is survived by her son, Josh Hipskind and wife Loren; her daughter, Samantha Allen and husband Tim Turley; her granddaughter, Morgan Lynch and husband Brennen; her grandson, Kaleb Hipskind; her granddaughter, Paige Hipskind; and her great-grandchildren, Willow and Grey Lynch. Gayle’s life was a testament to strength, love, and dedication. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
